I have finished my first block of study at my university. We have block system of study here in Maharishi University of Management( http://www.mum.edu/compro ). That is one course at a time. This is my first experience in the block system of study. I used to study in yearly system, and then I moved to semester based and now block system.
I found this ‘one course at a time’ approach, a very good one. It releases the stresses of doing 4 or 5 subject lab work, home works, projects etc at time and it helped me to concentrate on my one subject study moreover I had to concentrate on a single subject. This is really a nice experience for me but on the other side I had no time to feel free, not even in Sundays, its because, we need to finish a whole subject in four weeks and every day is very crucial. Regular quizzes, midterms, project and final exam didn’t let us to waste a single day.
I had FPP(Fundamental Programming Practice) as my first course, initially I thought it would be very easy for me coz I had already taken ‘Java Programming’ as elective in my undergraduate course. But, to my surprise, it was very different, not in the course content but the way of teaching, the depth covered here and the test of creativity was very different than from Nepal. Even though I’ve not expected a very good grade in FPP, I enjoyed the course.
Now I need to prepare for my next course that is Modern Programming Practice, its a 15 days block and I can guess the work load in the days ahead.
